Eichholtz

One of my favourite furniture shops in Toronto is Stacaro.  I will feature more specifics about it tomorrow. Tonight I need to show you one of the furniture lines they feature.  Eichholtz is based in the Netherlands.  Every piece is absolutely gorgeous!!  They are like nothing I have seen in a long time.  This line of furniture is the best quality you can find.  They are pieces you pass down to future children and grand children.  They are timeless classics.  Take a look for yourself.

Christmas Day Count down!!

Since we are 26 days away from Christmas, I thought I would finally show you the decor around my living room.  We have never had a Christmas tree in our rental (we are always away  for too many days to keep a tree alive) so I really try to surround us with Chrstimas in other ways.  As the years go on I will certainly add more decor.  For now, I will have to stop spending money on decorations and start shopping for gifts.

The picture below is the view from my sofa.

I'm off to finish laundry and shop for dinner.  Ryan has been so good to me by making dinner  almost every night for many weeks now.  He deserves a very yummy meal made by me.  :)

Don't forget to watch Sarah Richardson's Holiday show tonight at 8pm.  I've already watched it once this afternoon.  Yes, you read correctly.  I'm going to be watching it again tonight.

My Friday night

I know I haven't written in a couple of days.  Again, my day job is keeping me very busy!  I love it!  I have gone through months of the phone not ringing and twiddling my thumbs so being too busy is an absolute blessing.  :)

Tonight, instead of writing my post on beautiful hotels I'm spending it with a glass of this

and this...

Tonight I dropped my first car off at the dealership.  My lease was over and I was not prepared to purchase the car.  It was my very first car.  I will always have great memories in that car.  Dropping it off was much more of an emotional experience than I expected.  The last four years have flown by.  My life has changed so much in that time period.  I think that's what makes me so emotional.  I'm not the same person I was four years ago.  I have gone through so much - good times and hard times.  I smile when I think about how far I've come and where I've gone in that car.  It was where I let out my frustrations after a hard day of work.  I would turn on a great song and blast it on my way home.  Playing a great tune was my way of de-stressing.  It was my time!  This car has seen many trips to Kingston, a fantastic girls road trip in the US and many trips around town.  It provided me the ability to get to know my city better.  Ok... before I get ridiculous I'm going to stop.  My point is, it's an end of an era.  I leased that car when I was a single girl ready to take on the world (at least the difficult world of advertising) and now I'm settled down, married and thinking about where my career is going, when I'll have babies.  It's the end of an era and the beginning of a new one.  I'm excited!!  Who knows what the future will bring with my next car... :)

Back to my book and glass of wine.  Have a great weekend!!  (p.s. I haven't spell checked because I can't be bothered tonight.  It's FRIDAY! :) WOO HOO!!!)

AT Design Group

While on my lunch hour I browsed the shops along Dupon Street I found a little gem of a store called AT.  The staff were lovely and very helpful.  There are two shops.  I visited the Dupont Street location that housed the larger peices of furntiture (sofa, dining table, dining chairs, sofette...etc).  The vibe is a mix of modern and classic.  There is a choice in fabric and sizes.  It's also a great place to get Christmas or hostess gifts.  Check it out below.  All pictures are from their website.  My camera isn't cooperating right now so I can't show you the exact pieces I'm considering for my client.  I'll try to do that later.

I love this white convex mirror and the black and gold nesting bowls.  My client will love the mirror in her living room.  It's made locally and comes in 33" or 44".  LOVE!!!

How adorable are these book ends?  They make me smile.  :)  The chair was featured in the store in a very soft leather.  It was gorgeous.  Great idea if you have kids or messy adults.

These tables look like large chess pieces.

Ah, hammered metal.  Still love it!  :)

Restoration Hardware Disappoints!

A few weeks ago my client and I purchased two gorgeous glass table lamps for her bedside tables.  We loved them!!  They were the perfect size and just gorgeous in the room.  Last weekend I was checking out our progress and noticed a HUGE flaw in the lamps.  The cord comes out the top of the base.  It just hangs out the back.  It looked absolutely HORRIBLE!!  I couldn't recommend she keep them.

Look how gorgeous they are here.  This is what I wanted.

This is what we got instead.  Notice the cord hanging out the back of the lamp on the left?  It's only slightly noticeable in this picture.  In person against the paint in her room it looks ridiculously obvious!!  RH what are you thinking?  I understand what you were going for with the look of the clear solid glass but please understand that a cord dangling out the back looks much worse then running it through the centre of the base.

Luckily we saw a few gorgeous lamps at ELTE.  I can't wait to go back.  :)

Has anyone else noticed and been irritated by this lamp detail?

Shopping in the US is so much cheaper than in Canada!

Happy Monday!!

I cannot believe the weekend is over.  This mornings alarm went off to early.  It was cruel and unexpected.  :(  The weekend was great!  I took it easy with Ryan on Friday.  Saturday I shopped all day long with Paula & Jory for their home.  We hit up the very busy Designer Fabrics.  Sarah didn't grace us with her presence but we did come away with very good fabric options for their tufted headboard.  After refueling at Starbucks (seriously, what would I do without that place?!?!) I discovered my new FAVOURITE HOME STORE, ELTE.  As soon as I walked in the doors my heart beat soared.  I was in heaven.  :)  We fell for a coach.  Unfortunately it doesn't come in fabric that works with the already painted living room.  Yes, we are working a bit backwards.  I came into the picture after the paint was selected.

Ok... I'm terrible at weekend recap or any story for that matter.  I go into way too many details and don't know where to stop.  So, I'm going to just get to the point of my post.  While shopping at ELTE we spotted the most gorgeous chandelier ever!!  Paula and I loved it.  The price we did not love.  Lucky for us it was featured in Cococozy post this morning.  Layla Grace in California sells it for $300 less than ELTE.  I absolutely love when I find a better deal in the US than in Toronto!!  (Can you sense my sarcasm???)  Why does everything in Canada cost so much more than the US?  Our taxes destroy our deals.  I sounds pist off but I'm honestly ecastatic that I found the Arteriors Home Shell Chandelier for a better price.  We can have it delivered to my Aunts house in Virgina and she can bring it up at Christmas.  Autn Karen, how does that sound?

Have a great day!!

Boutique Hotels... LOVE!

Well, it was another crazy busy week at work.  I should be still working but my brain turned off.  I just can't look at another spreadsheet or think about another ad campaign for the next two days.  I need to re-energize.

That's enough about work.  It's the weekend.  WOO HOO!!!!!  I have a lot planned.  I want to finish painting the cabinet.  So far I have one coat of Black Truffle by Ralph Lauren.  I'll need at least one more before sealing it with Wipe on Polly.  Tonight, Ryan and I are taking it easy with a bottle of red, Shepard's Pie and a movie.  Tomorrow I'm taking friends shopping for furniture and we'll be stopping by Designer Fabrics to pick out their headboard fabric.  I can't wait!  I wonder if we'll bump into Sarah Richardson or Tommy?  I'm certain I saw Tommy in the Loblaws parking lot after work.  Saturday and Sunday I'll be hanging out with friends.  At some point I need to bake goodies for a bake sale at work.  Wow!!  I have a lot planned.  It might be too much but it's everything I love to do - hang out with my hubby, shop for the house, drink wine and catch up with friends and a little baking.  What more could a girl want?

Now for my post, check out the GORGEOUS Hotel Pulitzer Barcelona.  It's spectacular.  I have wanted to visit Barcelona and many other Spanish cities for many years but haven't ventured there yet.  We tried to squeeze it into our UK trip over the Christmas Holidays but thought it would be too many cities and countries in such a short two-week period.

I love this hotel because it looks like a home.  It's shelves are stocked with books and trinkets.  I love the art work, cozy areas to relax, beautiful gallery style walls, clean lines and neutral tones.  I would definitely make myself at home in this hotel.  I can imagine entertaining may friends in the room below.  The seating is great for conversation over cocktails.

I would love to hang out on this patio.  Can't you just picture a party in the evening with strings of hanging lights and lots of candles.  It would be spectacular.

Happy weekend!!

Fresh start!

It's a new day.  An opportunity for a fresh start and to have a great day!  Yesterday was difficult but I'm up and running today.  I have a busy day ahead and I'm looking forward to what today will bring.  Thank you for your support and sweet comments.  :)

I don't have time to talk about what I love in each of these rooms but I'm sure you'll pick up on the orange theme.  Lately, I've been drawn to it.  I'm not sure why because it looks horrible on me.  Seriously, I have rosy pale skin.  Bad combination!  Any who, it must be because it pops out in so many rooms and looks gorgeous with deep purple, chocolate brown, dark green and somtimes a bright pink (colours I love and that look good on me).  I hope you love the rooms as much as I do.  Have a great day!!
