A Beautiful Nest!

I came across these images from Nest Dallas Design.  I love the feel of each room.  Clean lines, neutral with hits of colour hear and there, great lighting, simple roman shades, not a lot of trinkets lying around.  It's exactly how I like to live.  The prints on the wall of the first room are from the Crate & Barrel.  They work really well against the grey paint.  The colours in this room are not what I would normally think to pair but they work really well together.  The floor lamps remind me of my grandparents old lamps with the tray attached.  I love how they have been modernized with a large barrel shade featuring silver metallic inside.

This is one of my favourite bedrooms.  It has character without the fuss - clean lines, neutral backdrop, pops of green and purple (my favourite fall colour).  I could easily do this in our bedroom.  Now I just have to convince Ryan that puple isn't too girlie (even though he already cut it from the choice).

Dark grey walls, a lighter grey ceiling, marble surround fireplace, medium toned wood floors - perfection!!  Seriously, if I could paint every ceiling in my house I would!  It would involve way too much work though because we have the god awful speckled ceiling.

Honestly, the ceiling fans are awesome!  Chocolate brown, light grey and white are such a classic combination that will always remain fresh.

Ryan is taking me away for the weekend (Sat/Sun) to a surprise destination.  I have no idea and it's very exciting!  Tonight we'll meet our nephew for the first time.  He was born this morning weighing 8lbs 12oz and a full head of hair!  I can't wait to meet this little guy.

We hope to stop by Babies Fine Furniture on Sunday afternoon to check out some nursery furniture.  We'll see if that happens.  I think I would prefer this weekend to be free of any house duties, errands or decorating.  We need a break.

Oh, our powder room is looking fantastic!!!  Seriously the colour is gorgeous!

Have a great weekend!  xo

You Can Light Up My Room Anytime!

I'm obsessed with the Serena Drum Pendant light with it's capiz shells and bronze base.  There is a store on King Street East that has featured it in their window for the last few months.  Every time I walk by or see it in a photo I sigh.  It's beyond gorgeous!  And beyond expensive with a price tag of $2,950!  I will never own it (unless I win the lotto... so maybe there is a chance... a 1 in 1,000,000 chance... but still there is hope).

It looks amazing above this kitchen island.  I also can't help but love the lucite stools with their bronze fabric cushions.

Our living room furniture arrives this afternoon.  I'm heading home at lunch to greet it.  I will definitely post tomorrow morning.  Fingers crossed it all turns out!  :)

Capiz Chandelier

I'm sorry for the lack of posts lately.  I don't like to push the posts just to write something and I really haven't had any time to focus on my blog as much as I would like.  I do have a few ideas to persue before the holidays.  My day job is keeping me very busy not to mention all the holiday parties and shopping.  :)

While researching a few ideas I keep coming across this chandelier.  LOVE!  I think it's a sign that I will need to use it in a room soon.  Maybe the master bedroom I'm working on with friends.  If I had the money I would get it in a heartbeat!  Have I mentioned how much I love it?! :)

Here it is featured in this beautiful master suite of Brooke Gianetti from Velvet & Linen.

And again in a dining room by Heather Garrett,

And again here in this gorgeous bedroom.  No idea who owns it.  All i know is they are very lucky!

I'll be back tomorrow.  I promise! :) xo

Restoration Hardware Disappoints!

A few weeks ago my client and I purchased two gorgeous glass table lamps for her bedside tables.  We loved them!!  They were the perfect size and just gorgeous in the room.  Last weekend I was checking out our progress and noticed a HUGE flaw in the lamps.  The cord comes out the top of the base.  It just hangs out the back.  It looked absolutely HORRIBLE!!  I couldn't recommend she keep them.

Look how gorgeous they are here.  This is what I wanted.

This is what we got instead.  Notice the cord hanging out the back of the lamp on the left?  It's only slightly noticeable in this picture.  In person against the paint in her room it looks ridiculously obvious!!  RH what are you thinking?  I understand what you were going for with the look of the clear solid glass but please understand that a cord dangling out the back looks much worse then running it through the centre of the base.

Luckily we saw a few gorgeous lamps at ELTE.  I can't wait to go back.  :)

Has anyone else noticed and been irritated by this lamp detail?

A little shopping trip...

I took my lunch hour to shop for clients.  It was a great day to be out on Queen Street walking around and looking for just the right pieces.  Right now we are concentrating on the master bedroom and living room.  I thought I would share with you the gorgeous pieces from West Elm in Liberty Village & Pavilion on Queen Street.

I don't think these pillows are right for their place but I liked the medium sized white, brown and pink pillow for mine.  Unfortunately, we are in save mode so they will stay at the store.  It's always nice to browse.

Ah, a shelf full of hammered metal.  :)

I loved this rug.  It would be great if it came in other colours.  West Elm buyers, think about it.

This was a very cool candelabra in the form of a silver tree branch.  Again, unfortunately there are no more candles to go with it.  It requires the pencil thin candles.  Let me know if anyone finds them anywhere else.  I think it would look amazing on a Christmas table with berries around it.
I really liked these storage containers.  They are a very stylish way to organize the office.  How great would they look in a white office with orange accents?  Orange isn't one of my favourite colours but I was really drawn to them.

All items above from West Elm.

I haven't been to Pavilion in a long time.  I use to shop there on a weekly basis when I lived around the corner.  It still has some fabulous pieces.  This is the first item I saw when I walked in.  Check out the very cool table lamps.

This is a chandelier I want to show my clients for their bedroom.  I love the glass mixed with dark metal. It has an industrial feel to it.

LOVE the colour of this pillow.  I think this might be a great colour for their living room.  We'll see what they think.

Check out the stunning table lamp.  I gasped when I saw it.  How cool would this look in any room.  It's a conversation starter.

I love the three of these vases.  I think they will look great in their bedroom.

We are thinking of doing a mirror leaning against one of their bedroom walls.  This one would look fantastic!  I love the nail head type look of it.  See the picture below this one for the close up.

This one was also fantastic and very tall which is a good think because I think Jory is at least 6 feet tall.

This is my absolute favourite!!!

I saw this painting and fell for it.  I think the colours are phenomenal.

Paula, I thought you might like this one.  Art is very personal.  I don't believe it's something a stylist can pick out without the client.  We can only guide our clients to galleries where they find the right piece.

I like this headboard as a starting point.  I love the nail head detail down the side and top of the headboard.  I would add a bit more tufting.  You can barely see the five buttons on it as is.  I also wouldn't go as high on the back.

This little light of mine...

I recently discovered Z Gallerie online and fell in love with these beauties.  I need to add more lighting to my living room and I think the table lamp will look very cool on the console behind my sofa.  Too bad they don't deliver outside of the USA.  The closest store is in Illinois.  Road trip anyone?
