The best family rooms

I spent Saturday with my family at the Toronto Air Show.  It was a GREAT day!!  We hung out all afternoon in the sun, relaxed at my place and then enjoyed a delicious dinner.  So all of this family time had me reviewing what I dream of in my future family room.  Here are a few selections of my favourites!


Designer Jacqueline Derrey Segura hit this one out of the park.  I love the neutral warm earthy feel of this family room.

Designers Barbara Westbrook and Kim Winkler tied the kitchen and family room in perfectly.  They both have a rustic yet contemporary look.  I love the wooden beams and hit of colour with the purple throw!  I could easily relax here on a Saturday afternoon with a good read.

I love the symetry in this room by Jamie Creel and Marco Scarani. It's very soothing.

Same room.  Different view.  I like the golden hue of the floor, cabinet, painting, chair, coffee and side tables, and the mirror above the fireplace.  It brightens up the space.  The vertical lines of the mirror, painting and wallpaper emphasize the height of this room.

This room by Candice Olsen is bright and contemporary.  I love the blue and white pallette against the dark wood wall.  The use of beveled glass opens up the space.  This is another favourite of mine.  I would probably use this as a living room instead of a family room.
