I'm back with a nursery update!

What a week!  It has honestly been one of the most insane weeks I've experienced in a long time.  I've been swamped with client requests (yeah!), dealing with what I'll call 'communication issues' and long hours.  I wish I could give you a run down on how each day has gone this week but I think that would be going overboard.  If the show, The Office didn't already exist I would put a request into MTV to tape our daily work life.  You would be amused!

Now let's get to something inspiring and exciting.  Our nursery is coming together slowly...  Well maybe I should say the ideas are coming together.

Ryan has finished painting the chandelier from Home Depot.  It looks much better in person and will look amazing in the room.

The room has been painted white and is still being used as the laundry room.

I still need to decide on the colour of the horizontal stripes to be painted in the next week or two.  Green is out.  I'm looking at the light turquoise shades.

I purchased a table lamp from HomeSense but need to replace the shade.

The bedding has been delivered and we are going to purchase the Jenny Lind crib from Dear Born Baby on Saturday.  I'm still deciding on which Best glider to purchase - the Rena or Hagen.  The fabric selection is horrible!  Do I go with white or buckwheat?

I have also purchased these drapes from Pottery Barn.  I plan on adding green grossgrain ribbon to them in some way.  Can I just iron it on with double sided tape or do I need to have my MIL help me sew them???   Has anyone done this before and had success?

We still need a rug.  I haven't seen any that I love and are cheap beacause I'm running out of money.  I want to buy a shelf or two from Ikea.  We still need art for the walls and I would like to make a cork board covered in fabric.

So far I'm happy with the progress.  I'll keep you posted on any updates.

It feels so good to be communicating with you again.  I missed the blog world this week!

Have a great weekend!!  xo

Ah, the long weekend!

Hi folks, sorry I didn't post yesterday.  The Friday before a long weekend is always hectic in the ad world with last minute requests.  I love it!  Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling well yesterday so it made for a hard day.

I'm back feeling great today.  Currently relaxing in bed with a fruit and protein smoothie catching up on all that I missed this week.  Including catching you up on the progress of our home decor.

  • Living room rug arrived from Mat King.
  • Living room lamp shades were replaced with ones from Pottery Barn.
  • An old mirror, candle stick holders and plant pot found a new home on our mantel.
We still need to purchase or do:
  • Purchase a floor lamp for behind the sofa because there really isn't enough light from behind at night.
  • Art for the walls flanking the fireplace.  I was thinking of large floor mirrors but think blank and white art would also look very good.  This will take time and a lot of saving.  The less expensive version will win out.
  • Curtains!  I don't forsee this in our near future but over the next year it will get done.
  • Spray paint the ottoman tray a colour that has yet to be chosen.
  • Hang the TV on the wall.
  • Drill holes in the back of the console table to place the cable box, DVD player and modem inside. This is a must over the next few months.
  • Evenutally have another pillow made or bought with a little more pop of colour!  I haven't yet decided what the second accent colour should be.
Here is the latest photo taken this morning on my iphone.  I appologize for the poor quality.

I'm off to finish laundry, colour my hair, run a few errands, purchase the crib, cook potatoes and mash them up for dinner tonight at the in-laws.  I can't wait to have my first bite of Thanksgiving turkey tonight.

Have a very happy Thanksgiving weekend!  xo

Busy but here is something to ponder...

I had a great post planned today but I'm swamped today and my parents are in town last minute.  I'm taking off a bit early to go visit with them. So here is a little post on paint for the powder room.  It's a bad photo but it's all I have.  Which do you prefer?  I'm leaning more towards the top (dark) or bottom colour.  Painting Thursday night.

Which Paint Product and Which Paint Colour?

We are in the middle of painting our living room.  As you can see, it is a pale yellow or soft cream.  Not and off-white like my wall test proved!

It looks nice against the wood floors and console table but I don't like it next to our kitchen.

I was thinking about trying Behr for the second coat in Clear Moon becuase BM Aura is so expensive. Unfortunately, the reviews on Behr are not great online.  Do any of my readers have any other experiences?  my uncle swears by it and another friend (LJ) hates it.  I want these walls finished this week.  If I shouldn't use Behr Clear Moon then I need to find an equivelant colour with BM since I've always trusted it.  HELP!!!

Below is a picture of the paint colour I'm considering with Behr and the kitchen paint colour BM HC-81 Manchester Tan.

This shot is against the living room painted wall.

Kitchen Paint Revealed! What's Next?

I woke up ready to tackle the week and then just before leaving the house my head started to pound.  Another migraine.  They are definitely consistent.  Hopefully the massage tonight and accupuncture tomorrow helps this week.  Did anyone else experience this when they were 4.5 months pregnant?

I'm just about to leave the house but wanted to post this first.  The first two photos are the kitchen with the original paint colour.

And now the freshley painted kitchen in BM Manchester Tan.  Love it!  It looks much more grey in the photos than in person.

Counter is busy because we have dishes drying.

Next steps:
  1. Order dining table
  2. Choose fabric and order curtains (I took down the horrible faux bamboo vertical blinds) for the sliding doors and window above the sink
  3. Paint and frame chalkboard (for the small wall not seen in the photo. It's to the right of the doorway)
  4. Purchase and disply art, clock, pictures, plates... something on the long wall.
  5. Choose and purchase chandelier & work space light (this will be in due time as money is tight)
  6. Replace white range hood with a stainless steel range hood (again, something that can wait as we have other purchases to be made that take priority)
I know... it's a long list of tasks.  We'll have to take it one step at a time as there are many projects that need to be completed throughout the house.

I'm off to work.  I need to pack 8 hours into 5.5.  Wish me luck!  Have a great day!!

Paint for the Kitchen & Baby update

I had my second doctors apt this morning.  My due date has been moved from Jan 17th to the 13th.  Apparently its rare for it to be moved up.  Haha!  Today I'm 14 weeks and 4 days.  Yeah!!

On another note, here is a shot or two of the paint colours we are considering for the kitchen.  From left to right BM OC-90, BM HC-45, BM HC-81 and BM CC-140.  It's between HC-45 (Shaker Beige) and HC-81 (Manchester Tan).

The kitchen is quite visible from the living room where I have ordered upholstery in golden medium browns.  Which paint colour is best in your opinion?

Our Hallway Paint Recap

I had a very successful Monday!  My big presentation went well.  It always feels good when the client says how much they appreciate  our perspective and that we are all on the same wave length in thinking.  :)

I have been meaning to share photos of the hallway paint job.  The first two photos are the before shots.  The yellow is much worse in person!!  It had a horrible green undertone to it that made me want to hurl when I got in the door.

This photo really makes the yellow look good.  Trust me, in person it was horrible!

We chose BM OC-01 Natural Wicker.  The hallway is quite long.  I was thinking about putting a gallery wall of different sized black frames with white matting.  What do you think?  Would it be too much?  I also want a long runner for the floor.

I would like to put a skinny skirted table in this corner with a mirror and tall light on it.  Somewhere to put our keys and change, etc.  The Ikea curtains were there before our time.  I will replace them one day with something more stylish.

I have another busy day ahead of me.  Knowing that I'm going on mat-leave in 6 months has put a fire under my butt!  I need to make more sales.  Or at least make up for those that have recently cancelled on me! I'm still a bit bitter.

Have a great day!! xo
